Welcome to Gan Simxa Preschool

Gan SimXa Preschool is a unique and special home-away-from-home for your children. Our highly integrated environment promotes the development of the total child, each in his or her own individual way. Our carefully planned curriculum features content of both Jewish and general nature, including learning through arts and crafts, creative movement, and music and song.

Age appropriate education in early childhood is crucial, as this is the period of time when each child develops curiosity for learning, his or her connection to Torah and Judaism, and appreciation for the beauty and purpose of life and the world around us. As the seeds of learning are carefully planted by our highly educated and experienced staff, we gently promote a love for reading, active learning, exploration, problem-solving, nature discoveries, and camaraderie.

The traditional Jewish values are modeled and reinforced in our warm and loving atmosphere. Hebrew language is introduced through songs, games, and riddles, as well as books and casual conversations. Each day at Gan SimXa is filled with hands-on experiences in sensory exploration, building and sculpting, singing and dancing, reading, and much more. We approach all this learning with great enthusiasm and always keep a good positive attitude, which helps propel our learning to even greater heights.

Our child care provides services for three different age groups:
a) pre-nursery (1½ to 2½ yrs old)
b) nursery (2½ – 3½ yrs old)
c) kindergarten (3½ – 4½ yrs old)

We approach learning with a Montessori childhood development philosophy. We use the Creative Curriculum for Preschool and our learning occurs primarily through projects, learning centers, and playful activities that reflect current interests of children. Skills are taught as needed to accomplish projects. Our program reflects a philosophy of creative development – young children learn best by doing. In their early years, children explore the world around them by using all their senses (touching, tasting, listening, smelling, and seeing). Using real materials, such as blocks, puzzles, building clay, puppets, balls, scarves, etc. and exploring their functions, children learn about sizes, shapes, and colors, and in addition notice relationships between things. This curriculum identifies goals in all areas of development:

Social: Feel comfortable in gan, trust new environment, make friends, and feel part of the group.
Emotional: Experience pride & self-confidence, develop independence, self-control, and positive attitude
Cognitive: Become enthusiastic learners by exploring new ideas, experiencing success, and problem solving
Physical: Increase large and small muscle skills and gain confidence that will promote further development.
Spiritual: Develop a keene sense of awareness of the Creator and His creation, gain appreciation for Torah life.

In order to reach the highest potential of each and every child in our care, we work both on a group and individual level with all the children. Throughout our daily routine our nursery class works on acquiring pre-reading skills – learning the English alphabet, word recognition, and sentence formation. We learn the Alef-Bais and Hebrew Language through songs and thereby reinforce our culture and tradition.
